The Importance of Learnability
A plant produces fruit after going through different stages of development. We could say that unless fruits are produced the plant is incomplete, the reason for its existence has not reached fullness. Although one can not deny the importance of each of its components, roots, stems, leaves, it is possible to affirm that all these parts support the main "mission" of the plant, which is to produce fruits and seeds. Likewise, a person can learn to propitiate their full development to express their full potential. An integrated and integrative vision, avant-garde and supportive, contributes to a more productive and satisfying life not only for oneself but for the family and the community.
To which extent have you developed all components of your
being?
Do you know which are those components?
Are you clear about the purpose of your existence?
Since antiquity, with the first blink of the awakening of consciousness that occurred in humans, their attention has focused on the problem of their own existence, the cause and source of everything. For centuries it has investigated and consulted within the limitations of a specific social-cultural environment, but now these efforts are complemented with the study of the knowledge of other cultures, even in other times and geographical areas. The learning that keeps the process of integral development going must be broad and continuous. Multilateral organizations such as UNESCO are conducting campaigns to promote and encourage lifelong learning from multiple qualified sources, taking advantage of modern communications and easy access to information on the Internet.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States
conducted a study that found that people at the age of 45 have
the possibility to develop higher intellectual capability and at
60 their best memory capacity, if they have been developing the
same over the course of their life. Dr. Rita Levi, Nobel prize in
physiology 1986, discovered that neurons can be regenerated if we
exercise them through the process of synapse (inter-neural
communication). Dr. Levi died at the age of 103. She pointed out
that “the body wrinkles but our brain doesn´t”.
The brain is like a muscle in the sense that it´s atrophied when not exercised. The chances of getting psychological diseases such as Alzheimer's are reduced substantially by encouraging the continued functioning of the brain.
From several fronts we are encouraged to constantly keep learning. Continuous integral human development allows us to have a powerful purpose in life, overcoming any obstacle that comes on our way, like fears, depression, dependency, guilt or frustration, all of this to properly take advantage of human experience, reaching new levels of satisfaction.
How important is it to our near and dear beings?
If we keep the interest of being more aware by the day, we will set a very good example to our children and grandchildren so that they also look for their own development. On the contrary, by not doing so, we will be negatively influencing them and taking the risk that they will be inspired to direct their lives on the path of frustration.
